WTF?

From the "How'd They Miss That One?" Department:
WASHINGTON (AFP) -- OMG! What is that on my car's license plate?

That's the question asked by 10,000 drivers who registered their vehicles in North Carolina last year and got registrations starting with "WTF."

It's funny that they missed this! I suspect there were at least some people down at that DMV who thought it was funnier not to clarify to the higher ups what this stands for.

Replacing them seems extreme though- kind of a waste of money. Surely most adults are up to being amused for a minute when they see (or receive) a WTF plate and then moving on with their lives? One would think (/hope?)... Particularly with the increasing number of these kinds of initialisms it seems like a dangerous precedent to set that all the plates will be replaced.

Love the minicasts!

Thanks for the kind words about our minicasts, tasmansea! And I agree completely about the waste of $$.

I'm realizing now that what I'd Really like to see is a WTF license plate next to one of those bumperstickers that say, "Where are we going? And why are we in a handbasket?"
